The Brushed Nickel Silver and Polished Chrome Crab Doorbell Ringer was designed by Michael Healy, an accomplished Rhode Island artisan, known for his Unique Doorbell Ringers. Michael recalls his childhood days on the shores of Cape Cod with this Crab Doorbell Ringer. Displaying this handsome sculpture will surely set any door apart while telling visitors of your special affinity to the sea.The Crab Doorbell Ringer is cast in solid nickel, which accounts for its substantial weight. Nickel Silver is an alloy that has a warm silver color which is attained by adding nickel to bronze. Michael combines a high polished finish with brushed accents to generate a contemporary look. A stainless steel brush on a high speed lathe is used to create the brushed effects. The mirrored finish of polished nickel silver is achieved through varying degrees of sanding and buffing. Michael uses these techniques to highlight or accent the raised areas on a piece. It is hand-crafted using the age old art of sand casting. This mold is used only once, giving each Doorbell Ringer its individual character. The Crab Doorbell Ringer is given a brushed nickel finish and then polished to a chrome shine. Afterwards, it is coated with a clear lacquer to protect its original finish. Each Doorbell Ringer is signed by the artist, Michael Healy, confirming its authenticity.
